As a native speaker of Spanish, learning how to master French sounds and French culture, I came across a method or way to sound more French as it came to using the frontal "-u" in French. An example of this is in the word, la rue=the street, usually a "-u" or '-ue". Basically, you must round your lips to say the sounds '-00" as in the English word "foot", and then utter the sound of '-ee' as in feet for the frontal French "-u" . What is key is that it is difficult for the Spanish speaker is that the sound equivalent is a back "-u" or "-ou" in French. So that if one does not acknowledge the difference if one is Spanish-speaking, it would be next to impossible to duplicate in French. Here are some strong specific examples that would strengthen the formation of the frontal "-u" in French: "La russe est rousse" which means "The Russian Lady is red-headed." Note that the word "russe" contains the frontal "-u" formed by the sounds at the front of the mouth("-oo" and "-ee" combined to form one sound) vs. the "-ou" of "rousse" which is only one sound formed at the back of the throat.
