Barrel racing horses need different feed requirements than pleasure riding horses. These athletes must be in great shape and have enough energy for the rodeo arena. Learn how to properly feed your barrel racing horse to keep him in the best shape.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Find a high quality feed for your barrel racing horse. Oats alone won't be enough energy or nutritian for your horse. Most popular brands of feed have feeds developed for performance horses.
Step2
Feed a good quality hay along with feed. No matter how good the feed is, hay and grass should be given all day. Horses need eat all day to keep their digestive system in good working order. Hay and grass are the main ingredients in a horse's diet.
Step3
Feed your barrel racing horse at least twice a day. These horses need an amount of feed that should be spread out into as many feedins per day as possible. Feeding too much at one time can cause colic.
