How to Paint like Jackson Pollock

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Paints. The thinner the better
• Large, thick paint-brushes
• Stretched art canvas
• Drop cloth or newspaper
• condiment squirt bottles (optional)

1. Spread drop cloth or newspaper on floor covering wide area.

2. Place canvas face up in center of drop cloth.

3. Paint entire canvas in one color. Let dry.

4. Choose different color paint and apply a large amount on the brush. Holding it two feet above the canvas, begin swirling the brush in all directions allowing the paint to drizzle and drip off it. Flick paint on as well.

5. Let dry.

6. Get a clean brush and repeat steps four and five until you have a design you like.

Tips & Warnings

• Always allow paint to dry before proceeding to next layering.
• Do not try to clean mistakes. They are part of the process.
• Experiment with different drizzling techniques and motions.
• Have fun and do not worry. Not every painting is a masterpiece.
• You may use condiment squirt bottles to drizzle paint instead of brushes.
