Use the "crop" tool (the icon looks like a little box made out of dotted lines) to cut out any unnecessary people or background objects. Pull the crop "box" so it fits around the desired picture, then right click and select "crop."

If your picture is too dark, click on "Image" then "Adjustments" and then "Curves." You will see a grid. Click on the center of the grid and pull the cursor up to adjust the light in the picture.

To adjust the size of your picture, click on "Image" and then "Image size". Type the desired size into the "Inches" box. 5-by-7 is generally a good size.
