If you are in charge of planning a baby shower, one of the most important decisions you will make is deciding the baby shower theme. Read on to learn more.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

You should always ask the expectant mother if she has any preferences in regards to the baby shower theme. Some mothers-to-be will have preferences, others will not. If the choice is left up to you, do not become overwhelmed. Planning a baby shower theme is serious business; but it is also serious fun!

  2. Step 2

When deciding on a baby shower theme, consider whether the party will be all females or if it will it be co-ed. If the party is going to have both males and females in attendance you would obviously want to avoid any over the top girly-girl baby shower themes. The goal of a baby shower is to make all of the guests feel welcome, not just those of the fairer sex.

  3. Step 3

Once you know who the guests will be you should factor in the location of the baby shower. The location can truly affect what type of baby shower theme you should choose.

  4. Step 4

If you are having a baby shower outdoors, consider having a water themed part. Give the mother-to-be a gift basket that is loaded down with baby pool things such as a tiny baby beach towel, baby flip flops, baby sunscreen, bathing suit, pool toys and more. Other baby shower themes that work well outdoors are garden themes, bird themes or flower themes.

  5. Step 5

If you are having a baby shower indoors in the winter, consider having a winter themed baby shower. Give the expectant mother a gift basket that is packed full of tiny winter hats, gloves, scarves, heavy baby blankets, boots, warm PJs and more. Other baby shower indoor themes are fairy tale characters or cartoon characters, rocking horses or lambs.

  6. Step 6

If the mother-to-be is an avid sports fan, you may want to consider having a baby shower sports theme.

  7. Step 7

Remember, you can always keep it simple and have the traditional baby shower theme with pink or blue colors and the “It’s a Boy” or “It’s a Girl” theme.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure everything ties in with the baby shower theme. This includes the cake, the centerpiece, party favors and even games.
