How to Remove a Broken Light Bulb From a Socket With A Raw Potato

Pick up a medium-sized potato in the kitchen and cut it in half. You don't need to peel it. Position it near the light fixture where you will be working.

Turn off the breaker to the light socket and flip the light switch off as well. To be safe, throw the master breaker to turn off all the power to the entire house.

Take one of the potato halves and place the side without skin directly under the broken bulb. Press upward vigorously until potato is forced into the socket.

Turn potato to the left with hard, swift turns until the light bulb base twists out.

Tips & Warnings
If a lot of the potato grinds off while twisting, you might have to repeat the process with the other half of the potato.
