Things You'll Need:
- Speech
- Audience
-
Step 1
Rewrite! Rewrite your speech over and over until it is exactly what you want it to be. You will feel more awkward speaking to a crowd if you are not totally comfortable with your speech.
-
Step 2
Commit speech to memory. When you are speaking in front of an audience you do not want to be reading from a piece of paper. You will not be able to connect with your audience when you are reading from a piece a paper. Having your speech memorized will allow you to look directly at your audience and connect with everyone.
-
Step 3
Practice in front of a mirror. Practicing in front of a mirror will help you see what you will look like or what you will be doing in front of your audience.
-
Step 4
Practice in front of a practice audience. Ask some of your family and/or friends to sit and listen to your speech. This will allow you to practice your speech in front of real people and get feedback before the real thing.
-
Step 5
On the day of the speech make sure you dress appropriately, it helps the audience to take you seriously. During your speech it is okay to have index cards with notes about your speech to guide you in case you happen to forget certain points. Do not write too much on your cards, just some major points you want to remember.
