When visiting The Gullah/Geechee Nation (which extends from Jacksonville, Florida to Jacksonville, North Carolina; coastal Sea Islands and thirty to thirty five miles inland) always ask before taking pictures of Gullah/Geechee people as well as the artisans, craftsmen and women.
Step2
Once given the go ahead for picture taking, be courteous and thank the Gullah/Geechee person for allowing you to take their picture. However, please do not use the photos to financially exploit the person (i.e. postcards, etc)
Step3
When you meet or encounter The Gullah/Geechee First Mother and Chieftess, Queen Quet; please respectfully approach her as you would any Head-of-State dignitary. Also, abide by any instructions from Elder Carlie Towne, Minister of Information; her security personnel or assistants.
