Things You'll Need:

  • Reference for a good marriage counselor.
  • Willingness to attend counseling sessions together.
  1. Step 1

  2. Step 2

A counselor should be able to stabilize the marriage before sending you back into the world together.

  3. Step 3

The marriage counselor should be able to calm both of your emotions and help you work towards solutions to your problems.

  4. Step 4

A counselor will also have strategies to solve your marital problems. The strategies presented to you should make sense and seem doable.

  5. Step 5

Once the relationship is healed, the counselor's job is to motivate and encourage you both to strengthen your marriage and put in the effort it takes to make it work.

  • You may have to try several counselors before you find a good match.
  • Ultimately it is up to you and your spouse to do what it takes to make the marriage work.
