Recover From a New Years Hangover
Recover From a New Years Hangover

The best part of New Years day is the New Years Eve Party. Whether you have a few beers, a few glasses of wine, or the traditional Champagne, the worst part of the celebration can be the New Years Hangover. Here are a few ideas on how to recover.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Orange Juice
  • Sports Drinks
  • Alka-Seltzer
  • Toast
  • A day off
  1. Step 1

Preparation is key to surviving the New Years Hangover. The first thing you need to do is ask for New Years Day off from work. This will give you a little time to rest and recover. If you're lucky enough to get the day off then you are farther ahead than most people when it comes to recovery. Sleep in and get more rest than you normally would have.

  2. Step 2

The second part of preparing is making sure you have plenty of healthy, rehydrating drinks available the day before the party. Orange, apple, cranberry, and grapefruit juice are all good "morning after" drinks. They will help to rehydrate your body while adding plenty of vitamins to your body to assist in recovering.

  3. Step 3

Eat a simple breakfast. Alcoholic drinks and late nights play havoc on your body, especially your stomach and other areas of your gastrointestinal system. If you bo with a breakfast full of meats, cheeses, eggs, etc. it can make you feel worse before you feel better. A simple breakfast of buttered toast will help ease your body back into normalcy without shocking the system.

  4. Step 4

Antacids and other similar over the counter remedies can help as well. I prefer a small glass of water with Alka-Seltzer to help calm my system. It doesn't taste very good but it will help to calm that morning after stomach. There is even a version now that has a little caffeine in it to help get a little jump start.

Tips & Warnings
  • Ibuprofen or other mild headache medicines can help, just don't take too many at a time.
  • Eating breads throughout the night of the party will help to soften the affects of the alcohol on the next morning.
  • Always drink responsibly.
  • Always have a designated driver.
