Nothing completes a turkey dinner like an old fashioned homemade stuffing that you make from scratch. It's easy and delicious. Your family will love you for it. Read on to learn more.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 fresh loaf of whole wheat or bran bread
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp. ground sage
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ground pepper to taste
  • 1 tube Mapleleaf pork sausage
  • 1 Large mixing bowl
  • 1 whole onion
  • 1 turkey

How to make homemade turkey stuffing

  1. Step 1

Break bread slices into pieces about an inch square and put in bowl.

  2. Step 2

Add egg and spices and mix together.

  3. Step 3

Add sausage and kneed mixture together.

  4. Step 4

Peel onion and cut it in half. Stuff it into the back of the turkey cavity. The onion will filter through the entire turkey and stuffing while it's cooking. You can remove it when you take the stuffing out.

  5. Step 5

Stuff turkey with your homemade stuffing.

  6. Step 6

Cover any stuffing that sticks out from cavity with foil so it won’t burn.

  7. Step 7

Leave it in the turkey until the turkey is done.

  8. Step 8

Remove stuffing when turkey is done with a spoon or scoop and serve up hot.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you prefer not to use a whole onion stuffed into the cavity, you can finely chop the onion and add it to the stuffing when you add the eggs.
  • Bread works best when it is soft. Don't leave it out to get hard.
  • Bread can be half bran and half whole wheat or even multi-grain if you prefer.
