Birds lover's can enjoy watching backyard birds year round by creating a bird-friendly environment. It's easy to feed backyard birds. All you need are some bird feeders, a variety of food, fresh water and vegetation to attract birds to your yard. The bigger variety of food and the more methods of providing the food you have, the more backyard birds you will attract. Read on to learn more.

Things You'll Need:

  • Bird feeders
  • Bird bath
  • Fresh fruit
  • Berry bushes
  • Seeds, nuts and thistle
  1. Step 1

    Hang several types of bird feeders in your yard. Keep them full of various types of seeds, nuts and thistle.

  2. Step 2

    Place pieces of fresh cut fruit through the end of hanging tree branches to attract birds.

  3. Step 3

    Provide fresh water for the birds. Running water will attract more birds than a birdbath alone.

  4. Step 4

    Plant berries bushes and trees in your yard to attract different types of birds and to be able to feed the backyard birds year round.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can make your own bird bath and bird feeders.
  • Carefully place bird feeders in quiet areas away from play areas.
  • Observe backyard birds, but be careful not to scare them away.
  • Take measures to keep cats and squirrels away from your bird feeders.
