Instructions

    • 1

Prepare the two packages of chocolate mousse mix according to package directions. Chill for at least one hour.

    • 2

While mousse is chilling, prepare and bake the brownie mixes according to the package directions. Allow brownies to cool completely and then cut into small squares, about 1 inch by 1 inch, using a pizza cutter.

    • 3

Layer half of the cut up brownies in the bottom of a footed trifle bowl. If you don't own a trifle bowl, use any large clear bowl.

    • 4

Dollop half of the chocolate mousse on top of the brownies and spread with a spatula to smooth it.

    • 5

Spread one 8 ounce tub of the thawed whipped topping on top of the layer of chocolate mousse with a spatula.

    • 6

Sprinkle half of the crushed toffee bars on top of the whipped topping layer.

    • 7

Repeat the layers one more time, using the rest of the brownie pieces, mousse mixture, whipped topping and crushed toffee bars.

    • 8

Refrigerate until the trifle is set, about three hours.

Tips & Warnings

  • During the holiday season, add a festive twist to the brownie trifle by substituting crushed peppermint candies or candy canes for the toffee bars.
