The very first Oscar Awards were held in 1927 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. They were moved to the Coconut Grove and then on to Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Finally, in 1969 Oscar found a semi-permanent home in the Los Angeles Music Center and in 2002 a new, permanent home at the 3,300 seat, state-of-the-art Kodak Theatre.

The greatest excitement on Oscar night isn't found inside the luxurious Kodak Theatre but outside with the Stars walking down the Red Carpet. They are giving interviews and smiling and waving to all of their fans in the Bleacher Seats. Here is how to get free tickets for the Red Carpet Bleacher Seats on Oscar night.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer, email and the Internet.
  1. Step 1

Go online and register for the Academy Awards Bleacher Lottery at http://www.oscars.org/bleachers in early September. (Check early for the Lottery registration date.) Then follow all online registration instructions.

  2. Step 2

Wait for your notification. There are 300 bleacher seats and the registered fans names will be selected in a random drawing. These fans will be notified in early October.

  3. Step 3

Arrive early on Oscar Day, if you are a notified winner. Find your parking and get to your bleacher seats as soon as possible.

  4. Step 4

Keep vigilant. The first Stars will arrive, smiling and waving, around 3:30PM and by 5:30 PM almost all of the stars will be inside waiting for the show to begin. I hope you will be able to see all your favorites. Say hello to Matt Damon for me and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • The streets surrounding the Kodak Theatre will be blocked off for the Oscars; so those coming late will most likely find bumper-to-bumper traffic and no parking
