Make quick and creative place card holders for your holiday or nature themed party.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pinecones
  • Place cards
  • Hot glue gun & glue sticks
  • Glitter or ribbon
  • Utility knife
  1. Step 1

Identify what place cards you will be using for your party. You can use premade place cards, or placecards you make yourself out of cardstock or construction paper.

  2. Step 2

Select pinecones of the appropriate size for your cards. You want pinecones that will be large enough to support the weight of the placecard.

  3. Step 3

Gently cut a notch in the pinecone, about ½-inch down from the top, to hold the card. You should make the notch at an angle so that when you put the placecard in the notch, the placecard stands up.

  4. Step 4

Test to see how the card fits in the notch. Make the notch deeper if necessary. Be careful not to cut all the way through the pinecone.

  5. Step 5

Decorate the pinecone. Put some hot glue on a few pinecone tabs, and dust with glitter, or glue some decorative ribbon around the base of the pinecone.

  6. Step 6

Create the placecards. Use your best handwriting, or use a decorative font on your computer. Print and assemble.

Tips & Warnings
  • Place card holders can be a great way to label prepared dishes at a buffet or pot luck.
  • Tie in the colors or trim of your pinecone placecard holder with your other holiday decor.
  • Anytime you use a knife, use extreme caution to prevent injury.
  • If you make this project with kids, be sure to supervise them using the knife.
