Envelopes make wonderful embellishments for scrapbooking layouts. You can make your own envelopes by simply folding paper. There are many envelope templates available for purchase at craft stores, scrapbook supply and paper supply stores. Envelopes can be crafted into many shapes and sizes. Here are some ways you can use envelopes on your scrapbook pages.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cardstock
  • Pattern paper (optional)
  • Envelope templates (optional)
  • Adhesive
  • Embellishments (optional)
  1. Step 1

Purchase envelopes in the desired sizes or make some envelopes out of your scrapbook paper using an envelope template or your own design.

  2. Step 2

Decorate your envelope with coordinating colors and designs so it looks appealing on your scrapbook page. You can stamp the envelope; make it out of patterned paper or use stickers to “spice it up” a bit.

  3. Step 3

Use the envelope to hold a journaling note; a cute die cut embellishment, memorabilia or a photograph. Envelopes can be displayed with the flap closed and a surprise inside or have your item sticking out of it for a more dramatic appearance.

  4. Step 4

Consider using clear envelopes to display mementos or items like baby hair and hospital bracelets.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make the envelopes ahead of time so you have them ready to add to your scrapbook layout.
  • Create a one of a kind envelope that coordinates with the colors and theme of your scrapbook pages.
  • Hold the envelopes together with brads or eyelets.
  • Tie a ribbon around the envelope for an added touch.
  • Use envelopes and other embellishments sparingly. They are just accents not the focus of the layout.
