Things You'll Need:
- Cat
- Patience
- Long sleeves, depending on your cat
- Feline dental gel
- Baby toothbrush
-
Step 1
Determine why your cat's breath is foul. Rule out illnesses, such as diabetes and periodontal disease. These conditions cannot be treated without help from your vet.
-
Step 2
Examine you cat's mouth for any trapped food, string, etc. If you find anything suspicious, remove the offending item as best you can.
-
Step 3
Brush your cat's teeth with cat dental gel. Put some gel on your finger, and gently massage her teeth and gums. Give her a treat.
-
Step 4
Once your cat will let you touch his teeth, try putting gel on a baby toothbrush. Be gentle. Most cats like this, given a patient attitude and generous treats.
-
Step 5
Switch your cat's diet to dry food. Moist cat food smells terrible, and is really sticky. Gradually switching your cat's diet to dry food will reduce this common source of kitty stink breath.
