Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bread machine
  • 2½ tsp. dry yeast
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup fresh butter
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup 2% milk, at room temperature
  1. Step 1

Prepare the bread machine. Set the bread machine to the basic "white loaf" setting.

  2. Step 2

Add ingredients. Add the yeast, flour, sugar, cocoa, egg, butter, vanilla and milk in that order.

  3. Step 3

Mix the dough. Leave the bread machine to mix the dough with the timer.

  4. Step 4

    Cut into slices and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Ghirardelli unsweetened cocoa is a great choice for this recipe.
  • Don't substitute baking chocolate for cocoa, because you won't achieve the right texture.
