The first Hot Fudge Sundae appeared in 1906 at an ice cream parlor in Hollywood, and has since evolved into dozens of variations of the classic. Adding a fresh brownie to the bottom of the sundae dish is the perfect way to make the dessert truly decadent! Here's how to make an indulgent hot fudge brownie sundae.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Favorite brownie mix
  • 8 oz. frozen whipped cream
  • 6 oz. semisweet baking chocolate
  • 2 tbs. butter
  • 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 gallon French vanilla ice cream
  1. Step 1

Bake pan of brownies. Follow directions on package to make thick fudge brownies, preferably in an 8-by-8 or 9-by-13 inch pan. Set aside to cool, and cut into blocks while still warm.

  2. Step 2

Prepare homemade fudge sauce. In a medium saucepan, cook the chocolate, butter, condensed milk and vanilla until well blended. Stir constantly, and cook until mixture becomes thick.

  3. Step 3

Assemble the sundae. In a tall sundae glass or a bowl, place one brownie square on the bottom. Drizzle 1 tbs. of hot fudge sauce over brownie.

  4. Step 4

Add ice cream layer. Add two scoops of French vanilla ice cream to the sundae.

  5. Step 5

Drizzle with fudge sauce. Add 1 to 2 tbs. of hot fudge sauce as a second layer.

  6. Step 6

Top sundae with whipped cream. Add 2 tbs. of whipped cream to the sundae and enjoy!
