How to Plan a Trip to Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse

Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse is a chain restaurant located in the Eastern United States (from Maine to Georgia) that boasts "the taste of the Canadian Rockies" with items such as roasted prime rib and grilled salmon. These restaurants also have very appealing rustic mountain lodge decor, but their real claim to fame is the talking animatronic animals. Children of all ages will enjoy dining under a joke-cracking moose or buffalo.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A nearby Bugaboo Creek restaurant
  • Cash or credit card
  • A hearty appetite
  • Friends and family to share the fun

Step1
Round up a group of people to go with you, if you can, trying to include a few young children if possible. Bugaboo Creek welcomes large parties.
Step2
Drive to Bugaboo Creek. You'll know you've arrived when you see the large moose outside. You may need to wait for a table when you get inside, but they'll give you a pager if you'd like to walk around or you can always sit at the bar and enjoy a drink made with their legendary Moose Juice (Gray Goose vodka in which fresh pineapple slices have been soaking).
Step3
Look around for all of the animatronic animals once you get into the dining area. Can you spot the moose head? How about a buffalo or maybe a bear? Listen for them to start talking, as one or the other of them should do every few minutes.
Step4
Check out the appetizer menu. The BBQ chicken nachos are a perennial favorite, as are the Bugaboo wings, but the Bunyan Onion, a giant fried onion with a creamy, tangy dipping sauce, is perhaps the best-known of Bugaboo Creek's starters.
Step5
Decide what you will have for your lunch or dinner. Steak, seafood or chicken? If you're in the mood for something lighter you could always have a salad, burger or pasta.
Step6
Save room for dessert. Berry-topped cheesecake, a triple-layer chocolate cake, warm apple cobbler served in a skillet, and a fresh-baked giant chocolate chipped cookie topped with vanilla ice cream and a strawberry are some of the delights Bugaboo Creek has in store for you at the end of your meal.
Step7
Sign up for the Creek Club before you go so you can get frequent emails with special offers from the restaurant. Nearly every email contains a coupon for a free dessert, a few dollars off or another such incentive.

Tips & Warnings

  • Bugaboo Creek does offer a kids menu for ages 10 and under featuring burgers, chicken, several types of pasta, hot dogs and even child-sized steaks and ribs.
  • The menu offers tips on what to order for people on gluten-restricted diets.
  • Very small children could be scared by the giant talking animals, but children age 3 and up seem to find them fascinating.
  • Portions are pretty big, so be sure to ask for a doggy box, especially if you plan on eating dessert.
  • There really aren't any vegetarian options as even the pasta and salads come with some sort of meat.
