How to Make an Oreo Ice Cream Cake

If you're a fan of Oreo cookies, an ice cream cake could be the perfect treat. It is sold at ice cream shops like Baskin Robbins, but it's also easy to make at home. Things You'll Need

  • 1 package of Oreos
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • ½ gallon French vanilla ice cream
  • 1 12 oz. jar of hot fudge topping
  • 1 12 oz. jar of caramel topping
  • 12 oz. whipped cream
  • 1 9-by-13 inch cake pan

      Place the Oreos in a plastic bag and crush them into fine pieces.

      Spread a light layer of butter on the bottom of the pan.

      Combine the melted butter and Oreos in a mixing bowl. Spread half of this cookie mix on the bottom of the pan, and press with the back of a spoon to form a base. Add a layer of ice cream and set it aside.

      Heat the fudge topping and caramel topping in separate bowls until they become easy to pour. Add one thin layer each of the fudge and caramel over the ice cream.

      Freeze the layers for at least 1 hour.

      Add a second layer of Oreos to the top of the mixture in the pan, then a second layer of ice cream and sauce. Freeze the cake again for 1 hour.

      Spread whipped cream evenly over cake. Cover the cake with plastic wrap, then freeze the cake for 3 to 4 hours or until it is firm.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add chocolate chips when you put on the whipped cream for even more chocolate flavor.

  • You must freeze the first layer before proceeding, or the layers will not set properly.
