  1. Step 1

    New Years Day with Chinese families can be spent in many different ways either at home resting and relaxing or going to the local Chinese restaurants for the traditional "Dim Sum" brunch which is like a Chinese buffet made up of many varieties of steam and cooked finger size foods served in wicker baskets.

  2. Step 2

    Children and grown-ups can spend the day together with grandparents and relatives and go too the popular local Chinese restaurants to feast on the many dim sum dishes. These foods are serve at the tables in carts and the foods are either steamed in basket towers or cooked to order at the table.

  3. Step 3

    Families can also decide to stay at home and invite family members for brunch or dinner where the hostess serves a large meal consisting of several large dishes, like duck, "charsui" or roast pork, turkey chicken , fish and vegetable.

  4. Step 4

    Chinese children can help to decorate the home with New Years Day decorations and help to bake some of the delicious Chinese cookies and sweets.

  5. Step 5

    The New Years Day can be a chance for families to spend quality time together by going to the parks and making a family barbecue or too the beach for a family beach party.

on 1/12/2008 This year Chinese New Year is 7th February...we have many chinese friends and its a fun and happy time full of celebrations and family atmosphere
