Macking is like playing hot-potato with a flying disc, a way to keep it moving without catching it. "Mack" the disc and keep its rotation going while directing it towards a friendly player. This is a useful skill for messing around with a flying disc. It teaches eye-hand coordination and can be used as an alternate to passing.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Frisbee
  • Several friends
  1. Step 1

The easiest way to work on this skill is with three people.
Form a straight line. Instead of throwing it between the three of you, have the outside throwers try to throw to each other, passing the disc flat near the middle person, who will be macking it.

  2. Step 2

The throwers should keep the disc flat with enough rotation to keep it aloft after the middle has macked it.

  3. Step 3

The mack is basically a slap given with a firm whole hand. The object is to have the disc glance off your hand and then continue on a slightly altered course. The tighter your hand is, the less resistance the spin of the disc will have on contact. Similarly the less you alter the path of the disc, the farther it will fly after the contact.

  4. Step 4

The throwers provide the power for the disc to move. Macking it will alter its course without powering it up - this will actually hurt your cause. You want a swift direct hit to the outer rim of the disc. Keep in mind the way the disc is rotating and try to move your hand in that direction as you make contact with the disc.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try macking both forehand and backhand throws.
