Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Plans for New Years.
  • Abstinance from Alcohol
  • An Open Mind
  1. Step 1

There are many different reasons to celebrate SOBER, follow along for some good tips.

First, don't give in. Be up front with the people closest to you. Whether you choose to be Alcohol Free because of a prior alcohol problem, or for your own personal reasons, be open about it.
People who care about you, will respect your choice. If others have a problem with it, you must be firm on your stance.
If you are comfortable with yourself, you will be surprised at how others will treat and approach you.

  2. Step 2

    GO OUT!
Make New Years plans like you normally would. Just try not to put yourself in a position to be tempted.
Designated Driver, is a GREAT way to stay Sober for New Years. Not too many people will pass up the chance to have someone to drive them around all night. Safety First!
You might actually find that it is a DRAG to be around a bunch of obnoxious DRUNKS! Which can do much to validate your choice to not drink alcohol.

  3. Step 3

In a social setting, it's easy to fly under the "Alcohol Radar". Order s cola on the rocks or a Sprite. Even just a soda water with a sprig of lime. It will look just like a mixed drink. As a BONUS, many times it will be FREE (or at least cheaper than alcohol).

Tell the bartender that you are a "DD" (Designated Driver), many times they won't charge you.

  4. Step 4

Be yourself, relax and HAVE FUN. Laugh! Drunks don't know if you are laughing with them or AT them!
You might be surprised to find out that you CAN have fun, without the headaches and regrets! Besides, think of all the cash you'll SAVE!

Tips & Warnings
  • Take small steps
  • Try to surround yourself with people who don't drink
  • Have FUN
