For years you have dreamed of writing a book. You finally found the time and your book has just come out in print. You are surprised you are not more excited. You are washed over with a sense of emptiness; what to do next? Here are a few tips to inspire some new dreams.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
So your book is published and it is not a best seller. There was a short lived rush after it was published followed by a sense of emptiness. You have figured out it was because a life long dream was fulfilled and a life long purpose completed.
Step2
You can choose to accept the accomplishment of your book being published or you can look for a new dream. For instance, since this book was not a best seller, you dream of the day when one or your books will be. In other words, you keep writing and submitting. The more you work, the better your skills become and the more you focus on your new dream, the more likely it is to happen.
Step3
You dream may not be as simple as writing a book. Perhaps your dream was to develop a good relationship with a child with whom you had a break. The accomplishment of that dream would seem to end there. However, you may be able to find within that accomplishment a goal to help other parents with children who are distant.
Step4
The creative part is finding the new thing which can add to your previous dream, or a new dream altogether. Perhaps you always wanted to write a best seller, and you just did. That may be enough for you. Most writers would tell you it is not. But suppose it is for you. You have also had several other dreams and now you can do some of them.
You have always wanted to do something for sick children. You decide to join the Make a Wish Foundation. There are a lot of dreams, and whether or not we have money, we can find a cause which we can contribute to which may help us fulfill a dream.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do NOT quit dreaming no matter how old you get.
  • There are many things you can do from home.
  • Following your dreams is not only fulfilling to you, but it usually makes someone else happy, too.
  • Sometimes it does not start out a dream. You help someone and from that encouter you develop a dream.
