OK, this drink sounds disgusting, but it's actually delicious, and one of the few drinks that qualifies as a meal as well as a cocktail. Good luck ordering one at a bar (not many bars have beef broth on tap), but making one at home is easy enough.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 1/2 ozs. Vodka
  • 4 ozs. beef broth
  • Orange juice
  • Tabasco
  • Pepper
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Pint glass
  • Ice
  1. Step 1
Beef broth ... that's the flavor
Beef broth ... that's the flavor

Make up a quick batch of beef broth. Bullion cubes will do, but so will beef ramen packets. You know you have some beef ramen packets somewhere in your house. If you don't, go buy yourself some beef ramen. It costs like 10 cents a pack.

  2. Step 2

Get out your cocktail shaker and make sure it's ready for action.

  3. Step 3

    Add the vodka.

  4. Step 4

Add a dash of orange juice.

  5. Step 5

Drop in 5 dashes of Tabasco.

  6. Step 6

Go with a dash of pepper.

  7. Step 7

    Slosh in the beef broth.

  8. Step 8

Now shake all those things up nicely and then pour the mixture into the pint glass over ice. Enjoy this strangely delicious drink, which is like a Bloody Mary, but hearty, protein-laden, and sans tomato juice.

Tips & Warnings
  • One of the greatest things about this drink is that Rodney Dangerfield (R.I.P.) orders it in Caddyshack during the "country club dinner scene." Rodney asks the bartender (played by the surly Italian kid) if he can "make a bull shot," to which the cocksure kid replies, "Can you make a shoe smell?" Awesome. So now you know what Rodney likes to drink in that movie. Odd choice for dinner, Rodney.
