Everybody knows that going green can help save the planet. Did you know that it can actually help save you money, as well? Here is how you can save green by going green at home.

From Quick Guide: Going Green at Home
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Change your light bulbs. Compact fluorescent light bulbs take up less power than a conventional light bulb. Changing to compact fluorescent light bulbs is a great way to go green at home. It’s also a nice way to save some money on your electric bill.

  2. Step 2

Take a shorter shower. This will use lesser hot water and thus save you money on your water or energy bill.

  3. Step 3

Turn off appliances when you are out of the room. This will lower the amount of electricity you use and thus save you some green on your electric bill.

  4. Step 4

Unplug things such as phone chargers or electric heaters when you’re not using them. Even when these things aren’t being used they still take in electricity when they are plugged in. Unplugging them will save you some green.

  5. Step 5

In the winter, keep the oven door open after you have used it. Make sure the oven is turned off before you do this. This is a great way to get some free heat.
