When you are broke, Christmas can be hard. This is one of the many gifts I have learned that can help with easing the pain of a big family. Plus, from this basic recipe you can customize with spices(like cinnamon) to make it your own! Don't forget to rate this article and post a comment so I can get feedback.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 5 c Dry milk
  • 3 c Sifted confectionary or powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 c Hersheys Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 c Borden Powdered non-dairy creamer, can be flavored to your choice
  • Your choice of container and decoration, I like small, clear plastic pastry bags that can make a cone shape with a candy cane and a ribbon bow.
  1. Step 1

In a large mixing bowl combine all ingredients together until smooth and one color. Store in an airtight container until ready to decorate presents.

  2. Step 2

Once ready, print out the following recipe on labels-"Mix 1/3 cup of this mix with 3/4 c hot, boiling water. Stir to dissolve. Top with marshmallow or whipped cream." Portion out into cones or containers and decorate.

  3. Step 3
    cocoa

If you want to flavor the mix you have different options...the creamer can be flavored, you can add 2 tsp cinnamon, or add a candy cane to the outside to use as a stirrer. These can make a huge impact with family.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a funnel to portion the mix.
  • Common flavors are french vanilla creamer, hazelnut creamer, amaretto creamer, peppermint candy canes, or any flavor candy canes.
  • Careful with boiling water.

on 6/23/2008 This mix would be good all year long. For other times of the year, just put in regular containers.

on 12/26/2007 It depends on how many servings you want in each cone. A serving is 1/3 cup of mix. I tend to put one or two in each.

on 12/19/2007 I could be so exhausted that I didn't see it, but how much do you put in each cone? How much will this recipe make? I have all the ingredients and ready to go.
