Things You'll Need:
- Paint
- Stain blocker
- Paint roller
- Paint tray
- Paint Brush
- Paint Edger
-
Step 1
Remove any furniture from the area. You'll work faster if you don't have to step over and around furniture and other odds and ends.
-
Step 2
Cover any stains with a stain blocking primer. One coat of primer will save you many coats of paint.
-
Step 3
Purchase one-coat paint. You may spend a bit more, but you'll save yourself the time and hassle of a second--or even third--coat.
-
Step 4
Use an edger. Taping a room off takes time, and isn't necessary. Purchase a paint edger, and you can paint right up to molding without any mess.
-
Step 5
Buy the biggest roller that is appropriate for the job. No need to make two strokes, when one will do.
-
Step 6
Cover rollers and brushes with a plastic bag, and store them in the refrigerator until you're done with the job. Then, you'll only have to clean them out when you're finished--instead of every time you take a break.
