This article is intended to show you step by step how to increase the amount of visitors to your eHow articles. If you've signed up for the Writer's Compensation Program here on eHow you already know that traffic = CASH!
Let's get this party started! ...

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • To sign up for a few FREE social sites/programs
  • Friends on eHow and abroad
  1. Step 1

Write QUALITY articles on topics you feel confident about.

  2. Step 2

Spend some time weekly or even daily adding a new friend or two from the eHow community. The featured members area makes this easy or you could even search by common interests in the search bar on top of most eHow pages; just be sure to check 'members' otherwise you will only get articles relevant to your keywords.

  3. Step 3

Join the following social bookmarking sites:

    1) Stumble Upon - www.stumbleupon.com
    2) Digg - www.digg.com
    3) Propeller - www.propeller.com
    4) Check out Only Wire and join the social bookmarking sites from there - www.onlywire.com
    5) Same as #4 for Social Poster - www.socialposter.com
    6) Sign up for a pinging service such as www.pinggoat.com and www.pingomatic.com

This takes some time signing up for all these things but it's WELL worth it. If you're not using them, your leaving money on the table at eHow.

  4. Step 4

I personally have installed the Mozilla Fire Fox browser. By doing so, I am able to take advantage of some cool toolbars to make 'social love' of my articles (and websites) easier such as the Stumbleupon toolbar, Smart Digg button, Session Manager (thank the Lord!) and Del.icio.us Post. There are others but these are what I use most.

  5. Step 5

Once your signed up and have your handy toolbars, be sure to post your article url, description and keywords to each one. It only takes me about 3 - 5 minutes per article. Fast and priceless in the amount of return you get.

  6. Step 6

Be sure to invite your eHow and other friends to view your article pages and ask them to rate it appropriately, leave comments if they have them, and to please help spread the word on your articles by using eHow's handy-dandy email a friend feature.

  7. Step 7

Each time you make a change to your article, remember to 'ping' it with the pinggoat or ping-o-matic sites.

  8. Step 8

Remember to bless your eHow friends with your ratings, comments and other eHow social loving. Especially when using Digg and StumbleUpon and other social bookmarking sites. To do only your own is not what the programs were intended for. They are communities and as such, they expect you to honestly report on sites you love or love to hate. Spread the love!

  9. Step 9

Spend some time on the eHow forums and get to know some of the other eHow members. Share your knowledge here, too; not just via your articles. Gain people's trust in your knowledge and they will want to read your articles. Be sure to include your url's to relative forum postings so people can follow through to read more about what you have to share with them.

  10. Step 10

If you haven't already, join some of the millions of free discussion lists out there such as those on yahoogroups.com and Topica.com. Join the lists that interest you. DON'T SPAM them but do share your knowledge, gain friends and share your link (only) when appropriate to the subject already being discussed.

  11. Step 11

If you paid close attention to the short and sweet instruction #1 - WRITE A QUALITY ARTICLE - your article will become viral and your eHow payments will grow and grow... hopefully spurring you on to write even more great eHow articles!

  12. Step 12

Make use of the Resource Links area for each article you write. If you have related articles, link to them. Not only does it increase your chances of a click on eHow but Google also loves a link who has many 'back links' pointing to it.

  13. Step 13

If you have any further tips to share on this subject, please leave them in the comments section. I'd love to hear them as I'm sure the rest of the eHow readers would as well. This is a community. Let's learn from each other.

Tips & Warnings
  • I am signed up with Skype and IM and love to discuss my new article links with my friends there. I not only get visits but also constructive critiques and helpful comments.
  • I also belong to Myspace. Myspace has a section where you can blog your activities. In my space, I try to keep my list of articles current so my friends there can read them if they are interested in my topics as well. Sometimes they even give me ideas for new ones to write!
  • Never Spam! This helps nobody in any way. It just annoys people and causes them to dislike you. Nobody wants that.
