I'd love to share this guaranteed easy easy preparation for the best basting sauce! My husband and I concocted this recipe on our first TG and tried it out on family and friends. We basted our turkey with this sauce and it made our Turkey the star of the meal. We've used this sauce on chicken and duck dishes too. It's so delish and so simple. So here goes.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 chopped shallot
  • 1/2 cup Coke
  • 1/3 cup Balsamic Vinegar
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tbsp horseradish
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 Ladle of chicken broth, about 1 cup.
  • (optional)1 large Lemon and additional tbsp of melted butter (optional)

Step1
This step is optional, but since we've always done it, I feel I must include it in the instructions. Prepping the bird - massage the turkey with a little melted butter and then rub it with a lemon which has been cut in half. Let the bird sit for about 30 minutes. While the bird is sitting...
Step2
Mix all the ingredients into a bowl and whisk together. Let the mixture sit for about 10 mins. Stir and then brush the sauce mixture evenly and liberally over the turkey prior to putting it in the oven. Baste turkey every 20 minutes with the basting sauce in the bowl and pan drippings. If you prefer not to use the pan drippings, that works fine too.
Step3
After your turkey is done, you have the option to use the drippings to make gravy. The gravy will be rich and delicious with a kick!

Tips & Warnings

  • We recommend prepping the bird prior to basting by massaging it with melted butter and lemons. Let the bird sit for about 1/2 hour before you are ready to baste.
  • The butter will sizzle and pop when you baste you turkey so please be cautious and keep a safe distance between you and the bird.
