How to Change Where Downloaded Files Are Saved in Firefox

With just a few steps, you can make sure your downloads go where you want, when you want, in Firefox.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

1. Open a Firefox browser window.
2. Click on the Tools drop-down menu.
3. Choose the "Options" feature on the drop-down menu. A new window will open.
4. Across the top of the new window is a row of icons. Click on the "Main" icon.
5. In the center of the main window is a "Downloads" option. You can choose a place to save files for every time a file is downloaded, or beneath the "Save" option is a check box for asking where the file should be downloaded every time a download is initiated.
6. Check the "Ask Me Where to Save Files" check box, and any time you download a file, a directory will appear so you can choose where to save the file.
