Remember when you were just a little kid and you couldn’t wait to be a grown up and shave your face every morning? It seemed cool to be just like that – until you got that age and discovered the razor burn, the cuts and nicks.

Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be like this. Acquiring a good shaving technique will help you get the close shave you want while minimizing razor burn and cuts. Follow these simple steps and you’ll be on your way to a great shave.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Razor blade
  • Shaving cream
  • A mirror
  • Warm water
  • After Shave
  • Moisturizer
  1. Step 1

Take a hot bath, or wash your face with warm water before shaving. This will let you open the pores and allow easy shaving.

  2. Step 2

Wet your face and apply an appropiate amount of shaving cream. Massage your face with the cream for a minute. Thiss tpe will let the cream do its job.

  3. Step 3

Start shaving following the direction of your hair. Pass the blade for a maximum of three times on the same zone. (That's why it's good to replace your blade often). The speed should be moderate. Not too fast, and not too slow.

  4. Step 4

If you want a really close shave pass the balde JUST ONE TIME on the opposite direction of the hair.

  5. Step 5

Clean your face of remains of shaving cream. Then apply after shave (non alcohol based) and let it dry.

  6. Step 6

Finally, apply moisturizer in order to restore natural moisture of the skin.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a good quality shaving cream, they may be more expensive but are worth it.
  • Replace your razor blade often.
  • Take care of your face. Shaving damages the skin to some degree, so treat it nicely and use solar protection.
  • If you experience ingrown hair, avoid the step 4.

on 12/30/2007 Ingrown hair can be avoided by using a new blade and putting a tiny bit of benzoyl peroxide .5% (.10% if you have pseudofolliculitis) mixed into your after shave lotion.
