Diablo 2 is one of the most popular action-RPGs ever made for the computer. This guide will show you how to make an Assassin that can still survive and kill at the highest levels.
Decide whether you will focus on traps or martial arts. Either are viable options, but the best results will be achieved by choosing one or the other on which to focus your points, rather than dabbling in both. Choose traps if you like attacking from far away, martial arts if you like engaging up close.
Step2
If you are a trap-focused Assassin: Take note of which traps give synergy bonuses to each other. Pick a high-level skill you will want later, and look at what skills you can take now that will also help you in the late game. Consider getting Death Sentry, both for dealing with corpses and for lightning synergy.
Step3
If you are a martial artist Assassin: Keep in mind that you will want 20 points in a finishing move as well as at least one charge-up skill. Do not waste too many points improving a low-level finishing move if it will be made obsolete later on.
Step4
Decide whether you will use a shield. Shields can add good resistances, but often have less skill bonuses than claws. If you are not using a shield, consider investing in claw block.
Step5
Put points in either Shadow Master or Shadow Warrior. Either of these makes a good, reusable target for the enemy, and will help you live longer.
Step6
Stat Distribution: Martial artists require many points in Dexterity and Strength in order to wield high-level claws at all, let alone effectively. Trappers will be tempted to place points in Energy, but do not forget to put points in Vitality as well.
Tips & Warnings
Claw mastery helps your accuracy and damage if you are a martial artist.
Don't spend more than one point in a skill that you won't still be using at level 50, unless it has a synergy.
Martial artists require lots of micromanagement, and are not a class for the lazy. Expect a workout for your fingers.
