Make Homemade Cards

Making Homemade birthday or any occasion card can be easy and time consuming. It all depends on how elaborate you want to be. I make homemade birthday, anniversary, baby shower, and Valentine's Day cards. If you love anything homemade and you know your family and friends will to, then by all means, make them a homemade card to cherish forever.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Blank cards (white or cream color) from your local craft store
  • Embellishments for whatever occasion you are making the card for. If you have a word processing software on your computer, make your own embellishments like I do sometimes
  • Use Two-Sided tape or a Scrapbooking glue stick
  • Ribbon, hole puncher
  • Family or friends photographs to add to their card
  • Digital Camera, keep a record of all the cards you make
  • Love, lots of love to make a homemade card
  1. Step 1

First, take a blank card and decide what photos and embellishments you want to add to this card. I sometimes, like in this card, also used that clear (pink, green, blue or white) paper to tape on the front of the card. Scissors will be needed if you decide to use this clear paper. What I did was wrap the paper around the whole card, on the outside. Then, I added my own homemade embellishments and stickers.

  2. Step 2

On the inside, on the Left Side, I added a photo of my Mom, on top of some lined paper I found at a scrapbook store in my city, holding my preemie twin daughters two years ago. To that photo, I added a puffy raised scepter sticker in her hand because she was a Queen and a crown on her head. On the other side of the card, I added more stickers and my personal note I hand wrote.

  3. Step 3

On the backside of the card, I added on more photo of my Mom holding my twins in their nursery with some stickers around the card. I also added my name to the puffy heart shaped sticker saying, "Created By Your Name."

  4. Step 4

This is a current birthday card I made my Mom. This one is a little more colorful and I think she will like it. Although, my handwriting has a lot to be desired. I did create all the embellishments, not stickers, myself at home on my word processing software.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be as creative as you want
  • Take cues from other store bought cards and make your own special for your family or friends
  • Have fun making a birthday or other celebration card
  • To make sure you have the card ready to send or give for a birthday, give yourself plenty of time (a week or two) to complete the card. I always add embellishments to the card envelope as well. If you think the card will not go through the mail with these embellishments, put the card and envelope in a bigger 3M envelope.
  • If you have scissors, tape, puff paints, glue: KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN
