the crossover

Learning the crossover greatly increases flexibility - the ability to move around the set smoothly and at any speed.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • drum set and sticks
  1. Step 1

Start slowly with a triplet, on one drum or cymbal, on the left side of the set, beginning with the right hand. While maintaining the tempo, reach across and over to a drum or cymbal on the right side of the set.

  2. Step 2

Alternate your triplets right-side, left-side. Increase your speed and move around the set. Now slow back down while keeping it smooth.

  3. Step 3

Start again this time using the paradiddle. When comfortable, try switching from paradiddles, to triplets, back to paradiddles.
