Have your diamonds shine like these!
Have your diamonds shine like these!

Got some pretty diamonds over the holidays? Learn to shine diamonds like a professional jeweler. It will make your diamonds look even more expensive than they were!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • ammonia
  • dish soap
  • water
  • toothpaste
  • toothbrush
  1. Step 1

To start, put some toothpaste on an old (but SOFT!) toothbrush and scrub the ring with it. Any type of toothpaste will do, but a colored (not white) toothpaste will help you make sure you get it all off afterward.

  2. Step 2

Next, make a solution of a few drops of dish soap, about 5 ounces of water, a teaspoon of ammonia. Put the dish soap in first so it gets somewhat foamy.

  3. Step 3

Place the ring in this solution and let it sit for at least an hour.

  4. Step 4

When you remove the ring, use the toothbrush again (make sure it is clean) and scrub the ring a little bit more. Rinse the ring off, and voila!

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember to dry the diamond with a soft cloth to avoid water spots.
  • NEVER use anything abrasive on jewelry. If you scratch the metal, it is very difficult to repair it!
