How to Deal With Being an Animal Rights Activist

Rate: (3 Ratings)

Every day animals are mistreated, abandoned and sacrificed, so being an animal rights activist can be hard when you know you cannot save all of them. Animal rights activists must be strong, compassionate individuals, but it is still difficult to see and hear about the horrible acts done to animals.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Deal with your emotions right away. Don’t be afraid to see a counselor in order to face your emotions properly.
Step2
Keep a journal of all of the things you have done to help animals. Include conferences, donations, parties, abstaining from meat, etc.
Step3
Sign up to online forums where other animal rights activists talk. Express your concerns, thoughts and feelings. Maybe someone will offer valuable advice, especially if they have had long-term experience in the field.
Step4
Adopt or rescue an animal. Having an animal as a companion will be an everyday reminder of the animals you have helped. Plus, it always feels good to have someone to spoil.
Step5
Set time aside for yourself and indulge in a massage or other spa treatment. When you neglect yourself, it makes it harder to help animals in need.

Tips & Warnings

  • You are only one person and can only do so much.
  • Sometimes it’s beneficial to separate your animal activism side from your personal life.
