Things You'll Need:
- Black construction paper or black scrapbook paper
- Gluestick
- Lots of family photos
-
Step 1
Recruit everyone to come up with a few good family photos. Try to collect photos of a similar size, with the faces of the family members about the size of a quarter. See if relatives in other parts of the world can send photos also. If people don’t want to risk sending precious photographs, they can have a color photocopy made and send that. A color photocopy will work just fine for this project. Even if people send original photos, make a color photocopy of all the photos rather than cutting out the photos themselves.
-
Step 2
Take all the photographs and lay them out on the table. Using a quarter as a pattern, or the lid to a vitamin bottle for a slightly larger circle, lay the pattern on top of the photograph, covering the individual’s head. Trace around the quarter so that the head will be centered once it is cut out.
-
Step 3
Cut out all the circles, and get rid of the extra material so it does not distract from the project. Once all the circles are cut, take a sheet of the black paper and lay the cut circles out in some kind of pattern. It’s fairly easy to make a regular enough pattern by just adjusting the circles next to each other until they look good on the paper. Or, to make it very precise, measure the paper with a ruler and make light marks with a pencil where the circles should go. Now, use a gluestick to attach all the circles to the paper.
-
Step 4
If there are a lot of photographs, and the paper ends up being long, it might work to curl the paper into a tube, with the photographs vertical on it, and attach the ends together so the tube will stand up. This can make a very interesting centerpiece with nuts and leaves and other Fall findings gathered around it.

Step 5
When it is time to say thanks, it is easy to be grateful with all the special faces looking out from the middle of the table.
