Snowboarding through trees is a very special thing. It kind of brings you back to the true essence of snowboarding. Here are some tips on how to ride trees on a snowboard.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Snowboarding Gear

Step1
Riding through trees is easy. If you can side slip your way down an open run(also know as doing the falling leaf because how the back in forth motion resembles a falling leaf)you can ride trees. So the first step is don't limit yourself by not practicing on trees because you think your not ready.
Step2
Log slide in middle of a secret tree run If it's your first time riding trees try and go with someone who is good at trees. If you don't have anyone to go with just pick some tracks and follow them to the bottom. Review the resort map first and make sure the lift is at the bottom of the trees.
Step3
The trick to tree riding is being able to see your line. It will be kind of hard at first because you will see all these trees and that will distract you. Don't worry as you practice riding trees they will disappear and all you will see is your line. Following a track that is already made is good for a beginner tree riders because all you have to do is focus on the track and it will steer you around all the obstacles.
Step4
Don't go flying through the trees until you are comfortable with them. Take your time, your not in a race...yet. It helps to keep riding the same track over and over, that way you can get to know every turn. It will help you develop your tree riding abilities faster.
Step5
Your stance through the trees should be pretty much the same. Definitely keep your knees bent. They will need to stay ready to make turns quickly. Keep your head up, don't look down at all or you might end up in a tree. Stay looking ahead. Also keep your ears open for other riders who might be coming down faster than you or who might be in front of you. The trees are a bad place to have an accident.
Step6
How to ride trees on a snowboard is really all about having fun. It is very exciting to cruse through the trees. It reminds me of being a kid and just running through the woods with friends. There are some places on the mountain where is you stop and listen every thing is so quite and than there are other places where the trees talk....haha.........Anyway have fun, definitely ride trees, practice makes perfect, take your time.
