How to Help a Bruise To Heal Quicker

Face it, you will get a bruise sometime in your life. It is just something that is bound to happen when you move. You may bump into something. You may actually hit something. You may even fall down and become bruise. These such actions causes the blood vessels under our skin has become broken and then the bruise appears. Bruises are not pretty, and in fact they can be quite ugly. They can be purplish, greenish and even yellowish. If you have a fair complexion, they will show up more, plus they can be painful. For these reasons and more, when you get a bruise, you probably wish it would heal faster. Luckily, there are some ways in which you can help to speed up their healing process.

Things You'll Need:

  • Ice
  • Essential oils: lavender, peppermint, sweet almond oil,
  • wash clothes
  • Hot water
  • Cold water
  • Bromelian supplements
  • Arnica cream
  1. Step 1

    Ice may be your best friend when you have a bruise. An easy way to do this is by placing some ice cubes into a plastic bag. Then wrap the bag around a soft towel. Now place onto the bruise for amount ten minute. Yes, you can use an ice bag, if you are lucky enough to have one.

  2. Step 2

    Be sure to be eating those healthy fruits you body all ready need. By eating them now, you can speed up your healing process. Be sure to add fruits in all colors such as reds, yellows and oranges into your diet. While you are eating those fruits, be sure to also add those leafy vegetables into your diet, too. Leafy vegetables are rich in antioxidants that are beneficial in cleansing our body.

  3. Step 3

    Buy some Arnica cream and place over the bruise. It will help ease the pain and help it to heal faster.

  4. Step 4

    Buy some Bromelian supplements (can be found at any nutritional stores). Take 250-500 mg. of Bromelian between each meal throughout the day until your bruise heals. Bromelian supplements work by helping to digest the proteins that causes pain and swelling. This will help keep the bruise from swelling more and from becoming more painful. These supplements come in both tablet and capsule form.

  5. Step 5

    Try using a combination of cold and hot cloths on the bruise, alternating between the two. First, use a hot cloth on the bruise for a few minutes. Switch to a cold cloth soaked in cold water. Keep this up for thirty minutes or so.

  6. Step 6

    If you like essential oils, you could try a mixture of lavender, peppermint and almond oil. You can make this yourself by adding three drops of lavender and three drops of peppermint oil to an ounce of sweet almond oil. Use the mixture a couple times of the day. You may even want to make sure it completely soaks into the bruise by covering it with a bandage.

  • If you bruise easily on a continued basis, you should speak to your doctor.

on 8/9/2009 Alot of people swear by rubbing toothpaste onto a bruise. What you are really doing is rubbing in the peppermint oils which help circulate the blood in a bruise. Easy home remedy.
