You’re a hockey fan. You never miss a game on television. You wear your NHL jersey often. What can you do, though, if your wife doesn’t enjoy hockey? You can turn her into a hockey fan and here is how you can do just that.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Explain the game of hockey to your wife. Many people in general aren’t fans of hockey because they simply don’t understand the game. Explain the basic concepts and rules of hockey to your wife in order to clear up any confusion she may have about the sport.

  2. Step 2

Sit down and watch hockey with her. There’s no better way for anybody to become a fan of the sport of hockey than watching the game. Watch hockey games with your wife and answer any questions she may have during the game.

  3. Step 3

Tell your wife about important, big-name players. Just like with any sport, hockey is full of superstar athletes. Tell your wife about some of the players in the league and what teams those players are on.

  4. Step 4

Explain the NHL to your wife. The NHL is different than other professional sports in the United States. For example, a team can receive a point in the standings without even winning the game. Explain to her how team standings in hockey differ from other sports.

  5. Step 5

Take her to a hockey game. Nobody can truly appreciate any sport until he or she sees that sport live. You don’t necessarily have to take your wife to an NHL game for her to appreciate the sport of hockey. Any competitive hockey game with good athletes is fine.

  6. Step 6

Let her pick her own favorite hockey team. This will allow her to make being a hockey fan her own thing. Don’t push your favorite team or players on your wife. Instead, let her enjoy the sport and be her own fan.

on 12/27/2008 Great points. My wife and I made a deal: I learn to be a better dancer, and she will learn to love the game of NHL hockey. Let's just say we're both expanding our horizons! :)
