You wish to make a backup of your DVD collection so that your kids won't destroy the originals. Or simply because you want to keep them safe. Here's how you do it with DVDShrink.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • DVDShrink Software
  • DVD Burner
  • DVDs to back up

Step1
Download and install DVDShrink online (see Resources below).
Step2
Launch the Program and make sure your DVD is in the drive.
Step3
Click on 'Open Disc'. You will be given a choice on the Drive to select. Choose the proper one. DVDShrink will now analyze the disc.
Step4
Once the analysis is done, you have the option of removing subtitles or other languages to make sure the DVD fits on a regular disc. Choose Automatic Compression so that it will fit the contents on a disc.
Step5
Click on 'Backup'. If you have Nero, the program will burn the Disc for you in the DVD Burner. If not, then use your regular DVD Burner to burn the files that DVDShrink outpus.
Step6
Insert the backup DVD into your DVD Player to test it out.

Tips & Warnings

  • Try to fit your contents into a 4.7GB DVD. Dual layer DVDs are expensive for the time being.
  • Close all other running programs when using DVDShrink. This would prevent burn errors which can happen.
