An independent defensive player fantasy league is a unique twist on the popular game of fantasy football. Instead of picking offensive players and a team defense, team managers select individual defenders from football teams and score their performances.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Team managers
  1. Step 1

Choose friends to join you in your IDP fantasy league. When inviting others to participate in your league make sure to choose people who are knowledgeable about defensive football players, and who will update their team throughout the season.

  2. Step 2

Pick one of the participants to be the league commissioner. This should be someone who is familiar with the game of fantasy football so they can inform every one of the rules and mediate any disputes.

  3. Step 3

Decide how many individual defensive players each team will use, and how the league will be scored. If this is your first time participating in an individual defensive player league, then you might want to start with a small number of players and keep the scoring basic. Also, you'll need to decide if you want to use a variety of specialized defensive positions, or if you want to keep the positions more general.

  4. Step 4

Set up a date and time for drafting players to the teams. Prior to the draft be sure to research how the defensive players available performed in years past. Based on how your league is scored you'll want to pay particular attention to players who recorded a lot of tackles, sacks and interceptions.

  5. Step 5

Update your lineup constantly throughout the season. Make sure that you're aware of when your players have their bye weeks, or when any of them sustain injuries.
