Buying a barrel racing horse is not as easy as you may think. Barrel racing has come a long way in the past decade and so have barrel racing horses. Learn how to buy a barrel horse for your specific needs so you can start winning at rodeos.

    Determine what your needs are for a barrel racing horse (do you want a horse for local shows or for major competition rodeos?). Make sure you look for a horse that matches your riding skills.

    Ask friends, veterinarians and other barrel racers for refferals when looking for reputable barrel racing horses for sale. Looking on the internet at barrel racing communities can be helpful.

  3. Step 3

    Try the horse out before buying it. Ride the horse around the barrels a few times and out in the pasture to make sure you like it.

  4. Step 4

    Have a veterinarian look over the horse before buying it. Barrel racing horses are athletes and need to be in their best shape.
