How to Change Your Decor in Three Simple Projects

Change your home with the changes of your life. We all grow and change and so should our home décor. The cost of interior design is expensive, but what if you could do this with a small budget and with your own hands? Making changes in your home stirs up positive energy and feeds our souls. Your home is your place of refuge and it reflects who you are. So, change your refuge and feed your soul with fresh new items that you can create with your hands.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Variety of candles
  • Variety of plastic or silk flowers
  • Vase or glass bowl
  • Decorative rocks
  • Moss
  • Fabric of your choice
  • Pillows
  • Tassels
  • Beads
Step1
Flip a switch and it strikes up moods. Lighting in a room can set the stage for events to happen it that room. Natural light is ideal, but installing a dimmer can allow you to be flexible when needed. Candles are another way to get lighting and add aromas to your room. Make sure the color of the candle coordinate with the scents. Sometimes layering smells can add a bonus to your room.
Step2
Gather different sizes of candles in a unified color scheme, now place them on a decorative plate in a circle with the largest in the middle. Now, add decorative rock around the base of the candles.

Flower power is the next step in changing your décor. The flowers can be plastic or fresh. If you go with fresh, coordinate the smells with candles or one that goes with the scents.
Step4
Gather a vase or a glass bowl. Fill the bottom with colored stones or glass beads and add just a little moss. If you want the bowl to look fuller, wad up some newspapers in a ball and cover with material and ddd flowers. This can be changed for the seasons if you use plastic or silk.
Step5
The next step in changing your décor easily is with pillow. A great way to pull your room together is by using a pillow with a pattern that ties together all the tones of the room. Here is a pillow that requires no sewing. Pick out some great fabric. Place the pillow on the fabric and test to see if it will complete cover your existing pillow with some leftovers. Now, cut a perfect square. Gather the fabric up and around until you can not see the old pillow. Use a heavy rubber band or color-coordinated hair rubber band. Make it look as if you were making a ponytail. Wrap a tassel around the leftover material, tucking it under, so you have a knot-like look on top.
Step6
Make several of these pillows in different colors and you can change the tassel to pre-strung pearl or other beads.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don’t have a decorative plate, but have holiday plates, add a piece of material to the plate to cover the holiday theme.
  • You can also add ribbons to each candle.
  • Never leave candles burning.
