Soap makers are always looking for new techniques to add something special to their handcrafted cold processed soap bars. Glazing soap with bits of herbs or flowers will make it look even more special than it already is. Glazing is done on fully cured soap that has been cut into the preferred size.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A cured batch of your handcrafted cold processed soap bars • Freezer wrap • Clear glycerin soap • Double boiler • Dried herbs or flowers • Knife

Step1
Lay the cured, cut bars of soap in a single layer on freezer paper, shiny side of paper against the soap.
Step2
Melt the clear glycerin in a double boiler per instructions for the pot.
Step3
Pour the melted glycerin over the tops of the cured soap bars.
Step4
Add the herbs or flowers into the soft glycerin before it hardens.
Step5
Let the glycerin cool and harden.
Step6
Cut the soap bars apart and trim away excess glaze with the knife.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure the soap is fully cured and cut into bars before glazing.
  • Lay soap very close together on freezer wrap to cut down on the trimming.
  • Take caution with the hot glycerin.
  • Be careful cutting and trimming away excess glaze.
