Things You'll Need:
- a heat gun or blow dryer
- a bucket of ice water
- a rag
- few towels
- gloves
-
Step 1
Place towels on a flat surface long ways for the bumper to rest
-
Step 2
Remove the bumper cover(bumper) off of your vehicle
and lay it on top of the towel, this will prevent you from sliding the bumper on the floor making scratch marks -
Step 3
heat up the surface where you are going to pop out for about 2-5mins till the surface is hot and easy to push back out
using a blow dryer may take longer -
Step 4
after u push the surface out, soak the rag in the bucket of ice water then super cool the surface.
-
Step 5
check the surface and it should be at least 90% back into place
-
Step 6
install the cover back on car

on 12/13/2008 Someone backed into my 05 Camry in a parking lot and put a good sized dent in the bumper cover. I found detailed step by step directions for removing the Camry bumper online and followed these directions for dent removal and saved myself at least the $500.00 deductable for having a shop do plus an insurance claim, plus it looks really good.
Thanks!

on 10/6/2008 Someone backed into my 2008 Mazda3 Hatchback in rear right corner. Wasn't in car & no note left from other party so I want to try and repair myself. Quote is $800 from Autobody Repair Shop. Not cracked but has large dent, paint from other car, & a slight gouge/scratches.
mbw119 was able to repair without removing bumper. Anyone have comments/photos of after pushing back out the plastic bumper.
Read above directions but: Any suggestions on how long to heat to minimize cracking? Best way to remove paint that came off from other car?

on 5/21/2008 I backed into a tree (at low speeds) with a 2006 Mazda 3 and it dented the corner of the bumper pretty badly. I didn't even need to take the back bumper off. I just used a hair dryer to warm the plastic up for 4-5 minutes and then pushed the plastic out with my hand. The plastic cracked slightly but it look much better than it did originally. With a little touch up paint (that I got when I bought the car from the dealer) it should look pretty close to new.
