Hiding the Scratches
Step1
Clean leather furniture on and around area to repair. Wet a rag in warm water. Apply a small dot of dish soap to the wet rag and wash leather furniture as if washing one's face. Rinse the towel and wipe off soap. Then condition cleaned surface with leather conditioner and let conditioned area set for 24 hours.
Step2
Apply shoe polish with applicator tip or use a clean rag and swirl it around the shoe polish compound. Rub onto scratched area in a circular motion and completely cover the scratches. The area will look like the scratches are gone.
Step3
Buff any excess polish away with a clean rag. The buffing proces will smooth the polish into the scratches so that they blend into the leather.
Tips & Warnings
These are semi-permanent repair steps that will have to be repeated as the color fades. However, it will save hundreds of dollars on a complete leather re-upolster job.
