Step 1
Meet with writer and candidate to discuss important issues that will appear in ad. In this meeting, you will decide the tone and overall message of the ad.

Meet with director and producer to determine logistics of your ad. Issues such as lighting and props will be discussed. Storyboard draft should also be created during this meeting.

Distribute script of political ad to all cast and crew members. The script should include enough details to allow make-up, wardrobe, and other crew members to have everything they need for a successful ad.

Schedule table read of script. During this read make written and logistical changes to original idea. Change or replace props and wardrobe as needed.

Distribute shoot schedule and finalized scripts to cast, crew, and candidate. Everyone should receive a copy and be clear when to arrive for the shoot.

Shoot video and audio footage for political ad. This includes voice-overs as well as footage of candidate interacting with constituents.

Edit video footage to match tone and message of the ad as envisioned. Consult candidate and sympathetic organizations for additional editing of message.

Distribute video via the internet, video, and television. Your political ad should appear where voters are likely to see it; which means you need to cover all genres.
